Giuseppe Distefano is garnering critical acclaim on theatre, opera, and concert stages throughout the Italy and Asia as a dynamic Lirico spinto Tenor. In the past season, Mr. Distefano starred as Macduff in Giuseppe Vedeis Macbeth under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti with Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna and due to the wild popularity of its last run, he reprised his role as Macduff in the Verdis Macbeth in many Italian Thetaers like Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia and others under the baton of Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti.

 

He also performed as a soloist in concert with Maestro Tony Pappano, and was in many opera productions collaborating with Conductors like Renato Palumbo, Carlo Palleschi, Daniele Squeo, Francesco Lanzillotta, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Hirofumi Yoshida, Marcello Mottadelli, Marco Angius, Paul Nedler, Pietro Rizzo, Pietro Mianiti, Riccardo Muti, Sergio Alapont, Valerio Galli.

Other recent seasons success include the 3rd Prize at the Nicola Martinucci International Voice Competition in Lucca in June 2019.

 

Giuseppe Distefano , was born in Paternò (CT)  in 1985. Mr. Distefano holds a Masters Degree in Voice, he graduated with honors and special mention, under the guidance of Soprano Serenella Fraschini . He began his studies as a violinist at the Istituto Musicale "Vincenzo Bellini" in Catania and then he continue them at the Conservatory of Reggio, where he discovered a passion for opera. Thanks to its appreciable singing talent has managed to rank in the top positions in various national and international competitions.

 

Since 2008 he participated in numerous concerts for international conferences , musical and humanitarian associations, recalling in particular those made for the " Circuit of Myth " in Sicily and those for the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy in the Goldoni Theatre in Livorno, for Cilea of Reggio Calabria . He has also made ​​the concert at the International Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing in response to a scholarship won in 2011 for the Beijing - Sing Hanyu Academy of Vocal Arts in the course of which was followed by internationally renowned faculty members of the Metropolitan New York USA, he took part in the Master of Vocal Technique, Study of Sheet Music, Scenic Action with teachers like : Hao Jiang Tian , Jiang Qihu, Katherine Chu, Gareth Morrell, Peter Meclintock, Lenore Rosenberg .

 

In 2011, he is inserted into the Shipyard Lyrical Voices Mascagniane held at the Goldoni Theatre in Livorno where he participated to the following Master Classes : Giovanna Casolla , Marcello Lippi , Jonathan Webb , Lindsay Kemp, Alessio Pizzech, Francesco Torrigiani, Alberto Paloscia.

In Theater Garibaldi, in Rio nellElba, he was Rodolfo in La Bohème , opera in fabula .

In April 2012 he was in U.S.A. for the recital in honor of Mrs. Hillary Clinton singing  the "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot by G. Puccini,  in Naples for the  Association "Friends of Enrico Caruso ", he is again Rodolfo in La Bohème.

 

In several years of study he followed several masterclasses held by Nicola Martinucci . In the year 2012 he was overall winner of the 66th Edition of the Competition for Young Opera Singers of Spoleto and the Special Prize " Cesare Valletti " reserved for Tenor 1st Place , where he followed by Master Classes held by: Ines Salasar, Renato Bruson, Rolando Panerai and Giorgio Merighi and he prepared his debut in interpreting Alfredo in La Traviata by G. Verdi.

 

 At the beginning of 2013 he recorded " Good morning to you " by Michele Centonze. In February of the same year he took part in concerts in France and was subsequently engaged in a tour in America , during which he performed a series of concerts whose artistic director was the famous tenor Placido Domingo. Among the most important concerts held at the Lincoln Center in New York, during which he was accompanied by the New York City Opera Orchestra and directed by Paul Nadler. In the same month, he participated in concerts organized by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale "A. Belli" in Spoleto, which were held during the Festival Hermitage in St. Petersburg.

 

In summer 2013 he is Arlecchino in Pagliacci in Taormina Festival 2013. In September of 2013 he debuted Tosca at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale "A. Belli" in Spoleto, in the role of Cavaradossi.

 

In January February 2014 he is Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi for Teatro Lirico Sperimentale A. Belli of Spoleto and in their Russian Tour. From February 2014 till June 2014 he is Radames in Aida di G. Verdi for ASLICO and Teatro Sociale of Como and all the cities of the Circuito Lirico Lombardo. In summer 2014 he is Arlecchino in Pagliacci in Taormina Festival 2014. September October 2014 he is Dick Johnson in Fanciulla del West of G. Puccini at Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto. From October 2014 till December he is Ismaele/Abdallo in Nabucco for AsLico and Circuito Lirico Lombardo.

 

He has sung Rodolfo in La Bohème at Teatro Lirico of Cagliari april /may 2015 and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni in Taormina Festival 2015.
